Angelo’s is closing, Crazy Wisdom is reopening and other Washtenaw County business news

WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — Big news has been happening recently for businesses in and around Ann Arbor.

Some longtime businesses are calling it quits after spending decades serving customers, while others are making their debut. There is even one beloved Ann Arbor book store that’s planning to return after closing in 2022.

Here are some recent business news you might have missed.

Angelo’s Restaurant to close as University of Michigan plans $4.5M purchase

By December, people will no longer be able to enjoy the deep-fried French raisin toast or sandwiches at Angelo’s Restaurant in Ann Arbor.

The University of Michigan will purchase the 1100 Catherine St. building where the staple Ann Arbor is located, as well as its accompanying bakery and two residential apartments for $4.5 million, according to university documents.

Crazy Wisdom Bookstore in Ann Arbor plans to reopen

Crazy Wisdom Bookstore is planning to return to Ann Arbor after closing more than a year ago.

The book store that spent 40 years serving the city is currently looking for a full-time manager “to spearhead the reopening of the brick-and-mortar store at 114 S. Main St, according to a job post on its website.

The 1923 double-decker bus known for its tacos has a new location

An Ann Arbor restaurant known for operating out of a double-decker English tour bus recently moved to a new location in the city.

1923, the gluten-free restaurant that has quickly become known for its tacos opened at 320 Miller Ave. in Sept. Now, roughly eight months later, the restaurant has moved to a new spot on South Main Street.

What’s that near Ann Arbor? New Mediterranean restaurant is now open

A new Mediterranean restaurant is now open for business right outside Ann Arbor.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill opened at 3268 Ann Arbor-Saline Road earlier in May and is planning to bring modern interpretations to some of the traditional Mediterranean dishes it serves.

What’s that? A new restaurant has opened right outside downtown Chelsea

A new restaurant dedicated to using fresh ingredients in its drinks and dishes has officially opened near Chelsea.

The Nest Cocktail Bar and Kitchen opened in April at Robin Hills Farm, a 129-acre education and event center at 20390 M-52 in Sylvan Township. The restaurant has a farm-inspired menu filled with classic American dishes made using ingredients sourced from Robin Hills and other local farms.

Ann Arbor-landscaping area and nursery business to close after nearly 40 years

After nearly 40 years of operating in Lodi Township, Abbott’s Landscape Nursery is set to close on June 30.

The business just outside Ann Arbor at 2781 Scio Church Road has been helping customers with their landscaping needs since 1983. However, Owner Michael Abbott said he is officially ready to retire.
