New Bradenton tea house promises fresh tastes and surprises

941 Tea House & Mochi Donuts opened in Bradenton’s Oasis Plaza in October, offering fresh and flavored teas, fresh juices, milk teas, lattes, coffees and mochi doughnuts.

That, plus a lot more.

[–>

Jennifer Tran is the owner of the new business at 3300 First St. W., and her menu also includes pho — the famed Vietnamese beef noodle soup, spring rolls, banh mi (sandwiches) and more.

[–>

Of course, the menu also includes Vietnamese egg rolls. Vegan, pork, shrimp and a combination of pork and shrimp are available.

[–>

There are surprises, too, like three varieties of corn dogs: the original, the potato corn dog and Hot Cheetos corn dogs. Coming soon she promises a sushi burrito.

[–>

But let’s back up to the drink menu.

[–>

The customer who wants to order a milk tea has many options: taro, honey, strawberry, lychee, peach, mango, jasmine and the list goes on. We counted 25 flavor choices.

[–>

Next, add a topping, anything from golden boba to herbal grass jelly, egg flan pudding to passion fruit jelly. And yes, there are many other choices.

[–>

Finally, select the sugar level — anything from 100% to zero — and the amount of ice.

[–>

Boba tea, also known as bubble tea or milk tea, originated in Taiwan.

[–>

Linda Davitt has enjoyed boba tea before and wanted to introduce two of her friends to it this week.

[–>

She ordered caramel black milk tea with boba.

[–>

“It’s very good. We came down here because they never had it before,” Davitt said.

[–>

Tran has lived in the Bradenton area for about 13 years and has owned several nail shops.

[–>

941 Tea House & Mochi Donuts grew out of her desire to give expression to her creative and culinary side.

[–>

“I love food and I love cooking,” Tran said.

[–>

She also wanted to design a food business from the ground up, rather than following a franchise model.

[–>

Tran caters to the individual needs and concerns of her guests. For instance, the mochi doughnuts are made fresh every day and are gluten free, and the tea is made fresh every three hours.

[–>

It’s apparent that she puts a lot of planning and thought into everything that she does.

[–>

“We chose this location because it’s the heart of Bradenton. It’s convenient and easy for people coming here. I love this community,” Tran said.

[–>

941 Tea House & Mochi Donuts seats 16. The business also offers take out, delivery and catering.

[–>

The business is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
