Consumer interest in foods’ mental health benefits growing
CHICAGO — Consumers have become increasingly focused on the role food plays in their mental and physical health, according to new research from The NPD Group.
The market research firm said consumers initially grew to care more about their overall health and wellness as a result of the pandemic, with food’s effect on health garnering more attention as the trend has continued. Now, consumers rank food and beverage choices just behind physical exercise as the main contributing factor to their health.

Inflation: Which foods are the most expensive in Canada?
Grocery prices continue to be one of the largest contributors to high inflation in Canada.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for June showed an inflation rate of 2.8 per cent year-over-year, following a 3.4 per cent increase in May 2023.
While this decrease was positive, Statistics Canada said it was “fairly broad-based.”
“Canadians continued to see elevated grocery prices (9.1 per cent) and mortgage interest costs (30.1 per cent) in June, with those indexes contributing the most to the headline CPI increase,” the CPI reads. “The all-items excluding food index rose 1.7 per cent.”

Karachi, April 8 (IANS) Business confidence in Pakistan continued to slide in the first three months of 2023 amid multiple economic crises, according to the latest edition of the Gallup Business Confidence Index.
