New Federal Housing Finance Agency Rule Rescinded Following Backlash
A new rule from the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to raise mortgage fees for those with higher credit at the benefit of those with lower credit has recently declined following backlash from over 26 states.
After the rule was proposed in January, many borrowers were pushed back, criticizing the decision as unfair and encouraging others to maintain their credit scores irresponsibly. In response to criticism, FHFA Director Sandra Thompson said, “Some updated fees are higher and some are lower, in differing amounts. They do not represent pure decreases for high-risk borrowers or pure increases for low-risk borrowers. Many borrowers…

Trump is collapsing
He might get a short-term boost, sure. The criminal case New York prosecutors finally unveiled against former President Donald Trump is underwhelming, and Trump might even win. The charges fuel Trump’s refrain that he’s a victim of political persecution, for those who want to align themselves with a self-described victim.
As a political force, however, Trump is the most. His mounting troubles probably mean he can’t win a general election under normal circumstances, and the candidates he has endorsed during the last two years generally have a losing record. There’s also worse to come for Trump, which he acknowledged himself.…

Oil imports from geographically close sources are preferred over supplies from far-flung locations, according to a new public opinion poll of more than 24,000 citizens of 28 countries by Ipsos.
It looked at eight oil-producing jurisdictions: Canada, the United States, Norway, the Middle East, Mexico, Venezuela, Russia, and China. Participants were asked to rank their preferred origin for oil imports between Nov. 18 and Dec. 6, 2022.
Ipsos says aside from geography, the weighted data shows a trend towards choosing suppliers based on shared values, such…
